DAM business

It's hard to say where DAM will emerge from the new Net-Linx Publishing Solutions, the product of the merged Systems Integrators Inc. of Sacramento, Calif., and CText Inc. of Ann Arbor, Mich.

Both companies had a product to sell, and CText's agreement to market TeleScope from Canada's North Plains Systems of Mississauga, Ontario, was brand new at NEXPO.

SII's offering, Insiight Digital Asset Management system, could be the underdog in this blended family peckfest.

And just as its booth was unpacked June 12, MediaBridge Technologies Inc. agreed to be acquired in a stock swap by Engage Inc., a subsidiary of Internet amalgamator Cmgi Inc., both based in Andover, Mass. The 14.5-million common share deal, which needs shareholder approval, is expected by end of summer.

The Acton, Mass.-based company, née Cascade Systems, will join an illustrious tribe that includes AltaVista, uBid.com, MyWay.com and 70-odd other 'Net labels, plus stakes through its venture arm in Lycos Inc., Vicinity and others.

With its emphasis on e-commerce, Engage may seek MediaBridge's marketing-oriented content.server, which Unisys added to its product set in June. Word from the booth is that the one-time news archive, Media.sphere, is at full maturity.

Also see Digital assets, we have a few, but far too few to mention
