  • CANTO SOFTWARE
    Canto, the San Francisco-based developer of the Canto Cumulus digital assets management product, has announced that it will begin to support the Linux operating system by the end of 1999.

    Canto's Cumulus Network will be equipped to run on a Linux server supporting Macintosh and Windows clients. Linux will join Canto's current list of platforms, which includes the Mac OS, Windows NT and UNIX.

    Canto also has announced that the FlexTight line of drum scanners, made by Imacon Inc. of Copenhagen, Denmark, now is being bundled with Canto's media management system, Cumulus Desktop 4.0.

  • CCI EUROPE,
    CCI, a Danish publishing systems supplier with U.S. offices in Kennesaw, Ga., has announced that the 274,000-circulation SUN-SENTINEL of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will upgrade its CCI ad production system to the CCI AdDesk production package.

    THE SUN-SENTINEL publishes 3000 ads a week, with 2200 pages output each week from the paper's CCI NewsDesk editorial system. The advertising upgrade uses an Oracle database.

    FutureTense, a supplier of web publishing tools based in Acton, Mass., has announced that it will partner with Granitar Systems Inc. of Framingham, Mass., a provider of e-commerce consulting and system integration services.

    The two companies' clients include American Lawyer Media of New York, the Community Newspaper Co. of Needham, Mass., and the WASHINGTON POST.

  • HEIDELBERG COLOR PUBLISHING SOLUTIONS
    Heidelberg, a color management software supplier based in Melville, N.Y., has introduced software called NewColor 4000, a TWAIN plug-in that replaces ColorFactory Pro as the color processing software included with such Heidelberg scanners as the SAPHIR Ultra 2 and OPAL Ultra.

    NewColor 4000 has an improved user interface, a wizard for creating color profiles, batch scanning, soft proofing on a monitor and the LinoColor ColorAssistant for automated production.

    infoPager, an Israeli developer of revenue-generating web tools based in Jerusalem, has released newZPrint, a Windows-based application for collecting content from on-line news sources and then prepares it for printing as a personalized newspaper with the appearance of a printed paper.

    SII, a publishing systems supplier based in Sacramento, has announced a strategic partnership with Market Power Inc., a Sacramento-based developer of sales force automation tools.

    SII and Market Power will collaborate on using PowerSCORE, the Windows-based sales automation application developed by Market Power, as a sales force automation tool for publishers. SII will have exclusive marketing rights for the product, which will be called SalesSEEKER.

    Team ASA, a supplier of networking products based in San Diego, has announced the availability of Cyan Software's MacServerIP for the DEC Alpha platform.

    MacServerIP runs Windows NT, supporting the Apple File Protocol over a standard AppleShare Internet Protocol (IP) interface. MacServerIP file transfer rates have been reported at 15 megabytes per second.

    A 10-user application is priced at $695; an unlimited-user license costs $4175.
