  • NEWSINC.
Billboards in Toronto put more on display than a front page, writes NEWSINC. Editor-Publisher David M. Cole in the March 29 issue. A marketing campaign in the Canadian city is using Xerox technology to put the front page of the GLOBE AND MAIL on seven billboards every day for eight weeks, and Cole points out that such thinking outside the box is the kind of marketing flair newspapers could be using.

Inside the March 29 issue, Correspondent Julius Duscha details a street corner battle that pits cities against newspapers over the matter of newsracks -- where they go and what they'll look like, with costly results for publishers.

Also inside, Senior Editor Pete Wetmore reports on an expanded base of newspapers the Newspaper National Network is offering to advertisers, how readers and advertisers were primed to accept a new newspaper in Evansville, the impact of the Web on some help wanted advertisers, and new ideas for making money through e-commerce.
