DT, a publishing systems supplier based in Orem, Utah, has announced the recent sale of its editorial pagination system to eight newspapers owned by Morris Communications Corp. of Augusta, Ga. The first site to get DT's PageSpeed editorial and AdSpeed ad management package is the 60,000-circulation TOPEKA (Kan.) CAPITAL-JOURNAL. The second announced site is the 170,000-circulation FLORIDA TIMES-UNION in Jacksonville, Fla. Infonautics, an on-line provider of information based in Wayne, Pa., has announced the launch of the web-based archives of the 167,000-circulation PROVIDENCE (R.I.) Multiple pricing plans include pay per article, multi-article passes or an annual subscriptions. Corporations, libraries, schools and nonprofit organizations are offered special rates. FutureTense, a supplier of on-line publishing software based in Acton, Mass., has introduced IPS Xcelerate 1.0, a scalable suite of tools for channeling editorial content to a web site. Xcelerate provides connectivity to wire services and legacy systems, and manages the text, images and graphics delivered from such sources. IPA, a publishing systems supplier based in Cheltenham, England, has announced it has finished installing its Windows-based mETS editorial system at the 16,000-circulation GUERNSEY EVENING PRESS in Guernsey, Channel Islands. A Sybase database is accessed by 18 reporter and 16 pagination workstations via an Intranetware file server. The installation marks nearly 20 years of service by IPA to the Guernsey paper; the first product, delivered in 1979, was a paper-tape classified system described as resembling a Hammond organ. WORLD-HERALD; 133,000-circulation BERGEN RECORD in Hackensack, N.J., and 237,000-circulation BUFFALO (N.Y.) NEWS. Four other unnamed Freedom Communications Inc. newspapers join the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER in using CarCast. PowerAdz is on the Web at http://www.poweradz.com/. Quark Marketing, a unit of Denver-based Quark Inc., has announced an agreement under which it will market the WebOS NewsFlash product line made by Adhesive Software Inc. of Austin, Texas. NewsFlash is a product suite for managing on-line publishing and e-commerce. NewsFlash will be offered as part of a Quark Publishing System installation, and as a stand-alone tool that can be linked to legacy publishing systems. Quark is on the Web at http://www.quark.com/. SAXoTECH, a Danish publishing systems supplier with U.S. offices in Bethesda, Md., has announced the recent sale of its SAXoPRESS editorial pagination and archiving system to the 16,000-circulation evening DAILY SENTINEL in Rome, N.Y. The 20-user Macintosh-based system will replace one made by CText Inc. of Ann Arbor, Mich. Installation is expected to be completed by the end of February. SAXoTECH is on the Web at http://www.saxotech.com/. SII, a publishing systems supplier based in Sacramento, has announced the recent sale of its System/77 classified advertising system to the 96,000-circulation MOBILE (Ala.) REGISTER. The paper, already an SII site, will install 25 workstations running Coyote XA client software and Compaq/Tandem ServerNet technology.
