Allaire, a supplier of web publishing tools based in Cambridge, Mass., has released HomeSite 4.0, Allaire's HTML editing tool. A 30-day CD-ROM trial version of Windows-based 4.0 is available for $99 from http://www.allaire.com/download. Allaire also has released ColdFusion 4.0, a web application server that runs on Windows NT and Solaris, and integrated development environment. ColdFusion Server is offered in two versions, Professional ($1295) and Enterprise ($3495), for four- or eight-CPU servers, respectively. ColdFusion Studio, the workstation client, sells for $395. The latest version includes better data transfer rates, Sherlock search software and support for as many as 50 web sites from one server. AppleShare IP 6.1, which is optimized for Mac OS 8.5, can support Windows clients through the SMB file-sharing protocol. Apple is on the Web at http://www.apple.com/. AISI, a publishing solutions supplier based in Auburn, Calif., has announced that it and its wholly owned subsidiary, Nova Publishing Systems Inc., have been sold to Group West System Ltd. of Vancouver, British Columbia. AISI and Nova will continue under current management under the agreement with Group West, which is a Year 2000 solutions provider seeking to expand its market for integration services into the United States. DSI, a publishing solutions supplier based in Silver Spring, Md., has announced the recent sale of its DSI/Circulation and DSI/Advertising systems to the WATERBURY (Conn.) Inso, a Boston-based supplier of digital asset management solutions, has announced that International Business Machines Inc. of Armonk, N.Y., is now marketing Inso's MediaBank as part of IBM's media asset management solution. Inso acquired MediaBank from Bitstream Inc. of Cambridge, Mass., in August. Inso is on the Web at http://www.inso.com/. Macromedia, a San Francisco-based supplier of authoring tools for the Web, has introduced Dreamweaver 2, a new release of its publishing software. Incorporating Roundtrip XML, its version of the eXtensible Markup Language, Dreamweaver 2 is integrated into such products as databases from Oracle Corp. Dreamweaver 2 offers "what you see is what you serve" technology, obviating the need for viewing works in progress through a separate web browser. ThomsonConsulting, a New York-based information management consulting firm and subsidiary of Thomson Corp. of Stamford, Conn., has announced a strategic partnership with Document Network Inc. of Rockville, Md. Document Network is a provider of on-demand printing services. ThomsonConsulting operates Thomson.com, an e-commerce site that offers services for publishing on the Web. TrendWatch, a monitor of trends in the printing and graphic arts industries, has announced plans for a far-reaching project to try to anticipate the state of the printing industry in 2010. The six-month research project -- "The Commercial Printing Industry of 2010: A Forecast of the Commercial Printing and Prepress Trade Service Businesses" -- will involve interviews, surveys and analysis to yield a report by the end of June, detailing critical business trends into the next century.
