  • THE COLE PAPERS
A flying trapeze symbolizes the work of systems and new media people, writes Editor and Publisher David M. Cole as he likens the newspaper business to staging a circus. Inside the May issue of THE COLE PAPERS, Senior Editor Pete Wetmore visits Colorado Springs, site of the first Unisys Corp. installation in the United States. Wetmore reports that the supplier and the newspaper learned a lot about being first.

Also, writer Julius Duscha visits the West Palm Beach, Fla., site of Cox Interactive Media to report on an enterprise within an enterprise. The use of the Portable Document Format (PDF) draws Wetmore's examining eye; his report includes tips on using PDFs well. And rounding out the issue, Cole assesses the current state of the oft-battered System Integrators Inc. of Sacramento, finding that the long-time systems supplier is on the way back -- it would seem.
