HERALD-TRIBUNE (97k, morning), DAILY OKLAHOMAN (204k, morning) of Oklahoma City, and the COMMERCIAL APPEAL (185k, morning) of Memphis, Tenn.

  • BRITE VOICE SYSTEMS INC.
    Brite, a multimedia publishing solutions provider based in Orlando, Fla., has introduced the BriteConnect Open Server, open-platform software for managing multimedia data for interactive voice response (IVR) and other information processing services. BriteConnect includes one or more voice/media processing units, an application server unit and Brite's Write-1 application development tool kit.

    Each UNIX-based voice processing unit can handle 96 calls simultaneously, and units can be networked to handle thousands of calls at once.

  • CCI EUROPE
    CCI, a publishing systems supplier based in Denmark with U.S. offices in Kennesaw, Ga., has announced that LIMBURGS DAGBLAD (80k, morning) of Heerlen, the Netherlands, has purchased a CCI NewsDesk editorial system. The 90-seat CCI system, running on IBM RS/6000 hardware and an Oracle database, will replace a Norsk Data editorial front-end.

  • DUPONT COLOR PROOFING
    DuPont, a color imaging solutions provider based in Wilmington, Del., and Seiko Epson Inc., an imaging device manufacturer based in Torrance, Calif., have announced a strategic alliance under which they will market a new color proofing system, the Epson Stylus Pro 5000, which uses imaging profiles and paper jointly developed by DuPont and Epson.

    The 1440-by-720-dpi proofer and RIP will cost about $10,000 and will ship in mid-March. The special commercial proofing paper will be sold through selected DuPont and Epson dealers.

  • ELECTRONIC CLASSIFIEDS INC.
    San Francisco-based ECI, a provider of on-line classified solutions, has introduced a new module that matches job seekers' resumˇs with job listings. ECI's product can be customized to each web site's needs, can import ad content from third-party sources, includes tools for selling on-line and permits self-publication of ads by job seekers and employers.

  • IONA TECHNOLOGIES INC.
    IONA, a supplier of object middleware based in Cambridge, Mass., has announced that Nando.net of Raleigh, N.C., has chosen IONA's Orbix and OrbixWeb for linking various applications to dynamically maintain content on the web sites of newspapers owned by the parent company, McClatchy Newspapers Inc. of Sacramento.

    By accessing the database in Raleigh over the Internet, editors at McClatchy papers nationwide will be able to publish and target content from their papers for on-line use. The multi-platform Orbix products can run in UNIX, Windows 95 and Windows NT.
