Atex, a publishing systems supplier based in Bedford, Mass., has begun shipping Release 2.1 of Press2Go, the Quark XPress-based pagination application with links to legacy Atex J-11 minicomputers. Version 2.1 is a maintenance release that is compliant with Macintosh OS8. The 39-seat ClassSpeed installation, which replaces a legacy CSI system, includes PlanBuilder software to automate planning of all ads, SpeedDriver software for production management and SpeedAuthorize for guaranteeing credit card payments via on-line telephone authorization. Dow Jones Interactive, a division of New York-based Dow Jones & Co., has announced it has added two New York newspapers to its electronic collection of U.S. newspapers currently available. The NEW YORK POST and NEW YORK DAILY NEWS round out the web-based business news and research service's collection of major papers. Dow Jones Interactive is the only on-line service offering the top 10 U.S. newspapers in full text. The papers are the WALL STREET JOURNAL, USA TODAY, NEW YORK TIMES, LOS ANGELES TIMES, WASHINGTON POST, NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, CHICAGO TRIBUNE, NEWSDAY, HOUSTON CHRONICLE and CHICAGO SUN-TIMES. Dow Jones Interactive also offers access to the newspaper collection assembled by DataTimes, which is now owned by UMI of Ann Arbor, Mich. Roaster, a supplier of software for the Internet based in Cambridge, Mass., has announced it has licensed ObjectSpace Voyager, the Agent ORB for Java from ObjectSpace, Inc., as the core Java interface for distributed programming using Roaster's Java development environments. Roaster will include ObjectSpace Voyager in its Roaster Enterprise and Roaster Data Edition products and extend its development environments to allow clients to easily build powerful distributed applications. Like Roaster development tools, ObjectSpace Voyager is written entirely in Java. Voyager allows programmers to create and use objects on remote systems as if they were in the same Java virtual machine, and provides features such as mobile objects, autonomous agents and group communications. Total Sports, an on-line content supplier based in Raleigh, N.C., is one of three firms involved in the World Cup Dream League competition through which fans worldwide may create their own teams of superstars, then follow their progress every day in local newspapers and on Internet sites. The competition will begin in May 1998. The World Cup Dream League is expected to have a worldwide audience of more than 500 million in print and 78 million on-line. The game, set up like rotisserie leagues in the United States, relies on a partnership of Total Sports, Dream League Sports Network of Great Britain and Publigroupe of Lausanne, Switzerland, the backers of New York-based Real Media. Dream League Sports Network will provide marketing, while Total Sports will sign up newspapers and tabulate and produce the results in print and on-line. Publigroupe will handle print ad buys worldwide while Real Media handles on-line sponsorships and provides the software to deliver up to 10 million ad impressions each day.
