  • CCI EUROPE
    Aarhus, Denmark-based CCI, which as U.S. offices in Marietta, Ga., has announced that Kieler Zeitung Verlags und Druckerei KG GmbH & Co. of Kiel, Germany, has purchased a CCI AdDesk System for ad production, pagination and tracking.

    Kieler Zeitung Verlags und Druckerei publishes KIELER NACHRICHTEN (115k, morning tabloid), KIELER EXPRESS (223k, weekly) and KIELER EXPRESS AM WOCHENENDE (202k, weekly).

    The initial installation will include 33 seats, with such CCI products as CCI ClassChamp for paginating classified pages, CCI DB Access for tracking ads and CCI Edit for ad composition.

  • HARLEQUIN INC.
    Harlequin, a supplier of raster image processing technology based in Cambridge, Mass., has announced that two companies have signed OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) agreements to use the Harlequin ScriptWorks RIP Management System in their products.

    Konica Imaging USA Inc., a subsidiary of Konica Corp. based in Glen Cove, N.Y., will use the management product on Power Macintosh-based systems. Optronics International Corp. of Chelmsford, Mass., will use ScriptWorks in association with its Aurora computer-to-plate product line and related systems.

  • MISSION CRITICAL TECHNOLOGIES
    Mission Critical, a software supplier based in Concord, Mass., has announced the sale of an AdFAX fax management system and an AdFAST system for direct ad entry to the DAILY OKLAHOMAN of Oklahoma City (212k, morning). Overseas, HELSINGIN SANOMAT (476k, morning) of Helsinki, Finland, purchased an AdFAX system with six AdCheck workstations.

    Both customers initially will interface to SII advertising systems, and then to their newly selected advertising systems (from Harris Publishing Systems Corp. of Melbourne, Fla., at the DAILY OKLAHOMAN, and from Atex Media Solutions of Bedford, Mass., in Helsinki).

    The BOSTON GLOBE hosted the first Mission Critical User Group Meeting Sept. 7-9. More than 35 customers attended the two-day session.

    -- SPORTS ILLUSTRATED in New York and Cox Interactive Media in Atlanta have installed SCC's production and archive workflow system, which consists of MediaServer, MediaGrid and MediaFactory.

    -- Both the U.S. Department of Defense and New York-based Associated Press purchased world-wide enterprise licenses for SCC products. The Defense Department bought SCC's PhotoGrid PRO for Macintosh and Windows 95/NT, and AP purchased SCC's Plug In Kit (PIK) for Windows, supplementing a Macintosh-based PIK which it acquired in 1995.

    Southwest, a supplier of color calibration software based in Austin, Texas, has introduced Color Encore for Monitors, a tool for either manual or instrument-based calibration of color monitors for accurate screen-to-screen and screen-to-output rendering.

    Color Encore features evaluation of ambient light, monitoring of phosphor aging and a schedule for calibrating systems. Calibration data are stored in a document accessible to system administrators for review.
