  • ASSOCIATED PRESS
New York-based AP has announced that AP AdSEND, its digital advertising delivery service for U.S. newspapers, is now compatible with iSDN Manager, made by 4-Sight of Woburn, Mass.

With several Primary Rate (PRI) ISDN receive units now installed at AP's technology center in Cranbury, N.J., all 4-Sight ISDN users can use AdSEND without having to buy additional equipment. For example, pre-press houses using 4-Sight to electronically deliver advertising materials to printers now can also send display advertising to newspapers via AdSEND.

Customers now can send jobs directly to remote sites point-to-point, or send the same files through AdSEND to designated newspapers. Files sent by 4-Sight customers via AdSEND will be delivered via broadcast satellite or terrestrial network.

4-Sight also was chosen by Xerox Business Services, a division of Xerox Corp. of Rochester, N.Y., to support delivery of advanced document management outsourcing solutions. Under this arrangement, Xerox will use 4-Sight's peer-to-peer file transfer solution, which communicates to over 42 countries, to expand its Documents Direct electronic distribute-and-print service.

  • THE COLE GROUP
The publishing and consulting organization that publishes the newsletters NEWSINC. and THE COLE PAPERS (not to mention this very NEWSWIRE), has moved. The new mailing address is P.O. The September issue of THE COLE PAPERS features a roundup of automation tools for the newsroom, circulation and photographers -- and ad reps, who seem not quite ready for such help, one supplier reports. Correspondent John Bryan takes a gander at two new editorial front-ends based on Lotus Notes, while Senior Editor Pete Wetmore details data-entry tools gaining favor with circulation managers.

Correspondent George Powell ("a professional newsperson who has taken photos") reports on new developments in digital cameras, and Correspondent Christopher J. Feola finds that one development in the office automation realm is not a push toward laptops for ad salespeople.
