Allaire, a new media software supplier based in Cambridge, Mass., has introduced the Cold Fusion 3.0, a rapid application development system for the Web that allows developers to create scalable solutions for electronic commerce, collaborative computing and business systems. New features include faster application development, increased scalability and more integration with Internet technologies to permit developers to integrate a wide range of browser, server and database technologies. Cold Fusion 3.0 includes extended support for Java, JavaScript, ActiveX, messaging and the Verity intelligent searching technology. A Professional edition, compatible with all ODBC-compliant databases, is $995; a Workgroup Edition compatible with Access, Paradox, FoxPro and dBASE systems, is $495. AISI, a software provider and integrator based in Auburn, Calif., and Advanced Publishing Technology Inc., a publishing systems supplier based in Burbank, Calif., have agreed that AISI will integrate APT products into AISI publishing solutions. APT is built on an open computing platform, using Windows '95, Microsoft Word, Quark XPress, Novell, NT and MS SQL Server. AISI is on the Web at http://www.aisipub.com/. FUJIFILM Electronic Imaging Ltd. of Hertfordshire, England, and ECRM, an output device supplier based in Tewksbury, Mass., have signed an agreement for FUJIFILM to market ECRM capstan imagesetters. Included are new imagesetters launched by ECRM at Imprinta, the PI-M 1400H and PI-M 1800H; they will join the PI 1400, PI 1800 and PI 2800, and FFEI's own family of Celix imagesetters. Prodigy Internet subscribers will have unlimited access to the Electric Library service, which includes newspapers, magazines and reference works; international newswires; and thousands of photographs and maps. The ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS of Denver has purchased a substantial percentage of the outstanding shares of Colorado Real Estate Online Inc., whose web site contains listings for more than 80 percent of all Denver metro-area Realtor-offered properties. Tribune Solutions, a subsidiary of Salt Lake City-based Kearns-Tribune Corp., has introduced a new billing and tracking system for newspaper sites on the World-Wide Web. Newspapers or other web site owners can track and bill electronic readers with NewsView iBill. iBill is a customizable package to control reader access to web sites. Electronic publishers can configure the software to create hundreds of products, all with different rates (including free) and billing options. Customers can pay for their subscription by credit card, purchase order or through a company's existing billing system. iBill can either link directly to existing SQL-based circulation systems, or can import subscriber records from older circulation systems. The software package runs on Microsoft's NT 4.0 server, IIS Web Server and SQL Server database. It utilizes credit card processing with either the Cybercash or VeriFone's vPOS system. The TRIBUNE's Utah Online is the first web site to use iBill. Tribune Solutions may be visited on the World-Wide Web at http://www.newsviewsolutions.com/. The WALL STREET JOURNAL has announced that beginning this fall, students who subscribe to the WSJ through its Journal-In-Education professor program will receive access to the Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition, http://wsj.com/, at no additional charge.
