Wilmington, Mass.-based Agfa has announced the release of the AgfaType Japanese Collection ATM-J Edition CD-ROM (version 1.0) for the Macintosh, featuring unlockable screen outlines of typefaces from AgfaType Japanese Collection. With it, graphic designers can manipulate Japanese screen font outlines and output low-resolution results without printer fonts. The scalable screen fonts in the Japanese font set include both the screen outlines and screen bitmaps for each of the 25 full-character sets and 25 Kana typefaces available in the AgfaType Japanese Collection. The AgfaType ATM-J font will print on PostScript and non-PostScript output devices up to 600 dpi. For accessing printer outlines for high resolution output, the full typeface from the AgfaType Japanese Collection CD-ROM is required. In addition, font outlines are accessible to applications such as Adobe Illustrator. Hardware requirements are a Macintosh with 6 megabytes or more of free disk space and 4 megabytes RAM. For the operating system, KanjiTalk version 7.5.1 or greater, or the Japanese Language Kit version 1.0 is required. Adobe Type Manager-J version 3.5 or greater is required to utilize ATM-J compatible fonts.
