  • ASSOCIATED PRESS
    New York-based AP has sold 11 NewsCamera 2000s, the digital news camera created by AP and Eastman Kodak, to Metroland Printing and Publishing.

    Metroland publishes the MISSISSAUGA (Ont.) NEWS, which will use four cameras; the remaining seven will be in use at Metroland's two other Ontario papers in Oshawa and Scarborough. Metroland is owned by Torstar, which publishes the TORONTO STAR.

  • SOFTWARE CONSULTING SERVICES
    Installation of an on-line archive and sales of more traditional products for newspaper have been announced by SCS of Nazareth, Pa.

    At the MANCHESTER (N.H.) UNION LEADER, SCS worked with the regional phone company, NYNEX, to put the paper's SCS Personal Librarian database on-line. After paying a monthly fee, up to 16 users may probe the database's 100,000-story trove simultaneously.

  • SYSDECO MEDIA GROUP, ATEX AMERICAS DIVISION
    The Atex division of Norway's Sysdeco Group AS, based in Bedford, Mass., has announced several recent installations:

    -- In a contract worth $968,000, the INDIANAPOLIS STAR and NEWS has bought 100 seats of Enterprise, Atex's advertising sales system, and its classified pagination package.

    -- The RENO (Nev.) GAZETTE JOURNAL will install eight seats of Press2Go for Layout, Atex's interface to Quark XPress.

    -- The TORONTO (Canada) GLOBE AND MAIL has acquired the RS/6000-based Atex Communications Manager and Gateway system, as well as disk-farm storage devices.

    -- In its first purchase from Atex, the FINANCIAL TIMES of London, England, is getting the Enterprise advertising management system, replacing an SII system.
