XITRON INC.
This Ann Arbor, Mich.-based developer and integrator of Raster Image Processors (RIPs), has announced the release of the 5.0 version of the Xenith product line, which is based on the Adobe CPSI RIP and comes in four levels from a basic RIP to a full pre-press workflow with Adobe Portable Job Tickets, Mac and PC clients, in-RIP Trapping, post-RIP imposition, ROOM and NORM proofing, Adobe Extreme compliance, archiving utilities and support for more than 150 output devices.Ê
Xenith 5.0 now supports PDF 1.4 with transparencies. Support has also been added for scaling the Xenith system: the new distributed architecture allows for one main Xenith server to control multiple "slaves" that can run processes such as additional RIPs, Primer, ROOM proofing or archiving.
The company also announced on-line software demonstrations and support services via web conferencing technology available through WebEx. Dealers or end-users contact Xitron to schedule a meeting, then log-on to the Xitron web conference with a specified password. Conference participants can view a live product demonstration via their web browser.
Xitron also said that it plans to provide customer support via Internet web conference technology. Support callers can share their desktop or application with the Xitron help desk allowing Xitron to see the customer's system.
Xitron is a wholly owned subsidiary of Autologic Information International Inc. of Thousand Oaks, Calif. -- which itself is a division of Agfa Graphic Systems of Ridgefield Park, N.J.
Xitron is on the Web at http://www.xitron.com/.
