  • ADOBE SYSTEMS INC.
The SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER has standardized on this San Jose-based company's InDesign page layout program to help streamline its daily design and publishing operations. The newspaper deployed Adobe InDesign as part of its new publishing system, Jazbox, from Harris Publishing Systems Corp. of Melbourne, Fla.

EXAMINER staff use the Jazbox editor to write and edit stories which are then sent on to InDesign, which design staff and production artists use to paginate pages. The InDesign files, including stories, photos and graphics, are managed within Jazbox. Finished pages are output directly to platform- and application-independent Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) files and sent via e-mail to the newspaper's remote printing facility.
