Cole becomes Seybold affiliateIn an effort to "strengthen and diversify" its offerings in both conference and publication content, Seybold Seminars -- a division of Softbank Expos of Foster City, Calif. -- has announced a new program for organizations that will affiliate with Seybold. The first Seybold Affiliate is The Cole Group, publishers of The Cole Papers. "Whenever I've heard the name 'Seybold' any time in my career, it has always been associated with quality products," said David M. Cole, proprietor of The Cole Group and editor and publisher of the newsletter. "It will be an honor to be associated with Seybold Seminars." Cole, a frequent speaker at past Seybold Seminars' events, will become a contributing editor to the Seybold Report on Publishing Systems, writing a monthly column on the newspaper industry. He will also continue to be a program director for newspaper-oriented seminars at conferences presented by Seybold Seminars. Seybold Seminars described affiliates as independent organizations that will become partners in providing editorial coverage in an industry segment important to the Seybold community. The goals of the affiliates program are to trade content, share columns, combine efforts for special interest seminars during Seybold Seminars' events, trade space on respective World-Wide Web sites and collaborate on marketing efforts. "Affiliates must perform a function integral to the community they serve, and be highly regarded in the industry as an organization with strong impartial opinions based on fact," Seybold officials said in a statement. Additional organizations will be added to the affiliates program in coming months.
