Longson has been a long-time Tribune Co. employee (Compton's is a Tribune division), working his way up from computer programmer to senior vice president for technology before moving over to Compton's last year. ... Also at Tribune, Michael Bales has been named associate managing editor for electronic publishing at the Orlando Sentinel. Bales, who'd been the paper's deputy managing editor for metropolitan news, will be responsible for on-line and interactive TV services. ... At the Press-Enterprise in Riverside, Calif., Mike Quinn has been named new media manager; he'd been editorial systems manager. ...
